Guns, grenades, and a tank finally made an appearance towards the latter part of the film, too. The last two-thirds of the movie, in which suspense finally kicked in, compensated for the slow and shaky beginning.

In regards to how it played out in the movie here, the pacing of this part was not convincing at all and seemed a tad full of holes. Can you say unrealistic? I’ll admit that I do not have a PhD in Central Intelligence and I have yet to take a course in Spying-101, so maybe that actually works in the field, I don’t know.

(Clarification: the execution of the story line, not the acting skills the acting was fine.) For the amount of time spent on this aspect (1/3 of the movie), the story line flew through the relationship – starting with espionage cooperation, jumping straight to sex, and somehow landing right on marriage. I felt like the execution of this part seemed quite awkward. The beginning focuses on the foundation of a love built from the partnership between two agents: one being an intelligence officer (Brad Pitt) and the other being a French Resistance fighter (Marion Cotillard). Unfortunately, the actual unraveling of the movie, especially the pacing of events, does not provide the necessary cohesion in holding everything together.
